About the artist:

I am a water photographer.  I love the way the structure of flow reveals itself in running currents and as it freezes.  I am curious about the depth, opacity, and reflective qualities of water and ice.  Often I try to find the point at which objects appear and disappear in water.  It can be quite frustrating to try to capture something you can’t see!

More recently I’ve become interested in the ways that water can illuminate aspects of gaze, of emotions, and the gradients of human relationships.  Whether it is a figure seeming to dissolve in a flowing stream, or sun rippling over a submerged face, water holds and lends emotional resonance.

Having retired from a career as a clinical psychologist, I am a self-taught photographer.  I’ve been helped enormously by discussions and classes with Karin Rosenthal, as well as workshops  with Lydia Goetze and George DeWolfe, Lance Keimig, and Alison Shaw.
